Detox & Cleansing Safe and simple ways to keep your body clean from the inside

How to Help the Cleanse Along

As we have said, preliminary one-day cleanses can provide a gentle start, and you can slowly progress to 3 days or 5 days at later dates, as you become more experienced and the body has fewer toxins to expel. Drinking plenty of water and lemon juice will flush the toxins through more quickly and within a few days the worst will usually be over. For the fit and able, extra exercise will help alleviate the headaches and body aches by increasing circulation, thus moving and expelling the toxins more rapidly (but see note below about avoiding too much intense exercise). For those who are very sick and weak, who find exercise almost impossible or very debilitating, cold showers are a perfect substitute; alternatively try a little yoga –  stretching and deep breathing helps the lymph system work more efficiently. The fit and able must do all of these.

Regimes & exercise

It is important to remember that too many changes and new regimes all at once can be a bit overwhelming for the body. Keeping a balanced overview during the cleanse will be vital. If you normally do very little or no exercise, please be content with managing a 20-minute brisk walk each day. Intense exercise can weaken the immune system making you more susceptible and vulnerable to immune weakness e.g. colds and other over-exaggerated detox reactions. Limit excessive exercise routines if you are used to them; do ensure that your daily routine suits you.

When NOT to cleanse

DO NOT CLEANSE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • During menstruation.
  • If you are under 16.
  • If you are underweight, very low in energy or weak. A strong physical state is important to enable a productive and safe cleansing process.
  • If you suffer any kind of glandular fever post-viral syndrome.
  • If taking prescribed medications, you must refer to a practitioner.

If you have any hesitation as to the therapeutic benefit of cleansing for your personal circumstances please seek professional assistance before commencing any cleanses. Phone the product advice line on 01379 608201 for further help and support.

Excessive detoxification

Excessive use of laxatives, colonics, enemas, fasting or cleansing programmes can cause nutritional losses resulting in protein, vitamin, mineral, fat, fibre and trace element deficiencies. Remember you are aiming to achieve equilibrium in your body; this will not result from obsession or extremes.
